Notojima Glass

Noto Blue

The Notojima Glass Studio is cradled within the Noto Peninsula.

On January 1st, 2024 the Noto Peninsula suffered catastrophic damage from an Earthquake.

To this day the region is still recovering from the disaster, even through the hardships, the Notojima Glass Studio remains dedicated to the craft of glassmaking.

The diatomaceous earth—accumulated over ages on the seabed surrounding Noto—serves as the raw material for this glass; trace amounts of metallic elements within it create a delicate indigo hue and a subtle, shimmering luster.
