After graduating from the Tokyo Glass Art Institute and the Ezra Blow Glass School, she worked at Ushio Kobo before establishing her own independent studio in Izu in 2010. Her work is characterized by its narrative quality, achieved through the masterful application of techniques such as masking and sandblasting.

I first encountered blown glass when I was in elementary school. The molten glass glowed a brilliant red—an object unlike anything I had ever seen before. I found it utterly unmanageable; if I blew too hard, it would burst, yet it would solidify in an instant, turning transparent as it cooled. Even as a child, I thought to myself what a truly fascinating material it was. My passion for glass has continued to grow ever since, leading me to where I am today. I infuse my glasswork with the everyday landscapes around me, the things and people I have encountered, and the feelings I held in those moments. - Misaki Urushiyama -
