Chaze (tea leaf display)
A Chaze (茶则, cházé) is a traditional Taiwanese / Chinese tea tool, often called a tea scoop or
presentation vessel, used to display dry tea leaves and transfer them into a teapot or gaiwan. It
acts as a bridge between storage and brewing, allowing for visual inspection of the leaves and
preventing spillage during the ceremony. The tea is transferred from the canister into the chaze,
shown to guests, smelled, and then gently eased into the teapot.
